Location of Boat No 1 (FLEET)

On board one of the old shipwrecks that are found on the River Wyre Estuary in Fleetwood, Lancashire
This is the location of Boat No 1 from the FLEET artwork project from last Summer. If you watch this video to the end, the boat is sealed inside the glass bottle placed in the tank of water on board the rusting iron wreck. I'm not sure if it is still there, but this location was the origin of the project and the ideas began to form from frequent visits to photograph and sketch these sad remains of a once thriving fishing port.

Demo using wax, oil paint

Timelapse demo
Simple 5 minute timelapse demo using wax and oil paint to create some interesting marks and develop ideas for a more advanced composition. The  work in this demo is on a smooth 220gsm card which is first given a coat of wax before continuing with the various applications of paint.

This started as a simple construction but has developed into something much more complex. I'm enjoying this process however and look forward to seeing how it progresses. As with most of the sculptures the ultimate goal is to take them into the landscape to photograph them on site.

In the process of creating this piece by building up the layers, adding texture, and small details. It's hard at this early stage to visualize the completed sculpture but once the layers of paint are applied it will hopefully become clearer.

Dimensions approx  : 13" × 10" × 11"

Materials used :  recycled card, cement tile adhesive, tape.

The base has been weighted with small bags of sand.

FLEET Art Project 2017

FLEET project
Working on a new video compilation for the FLEET project. This will include all the photos, video clips and location details along with the names of all the contributors for last year's collaborative art project. I will upload this onto my YouTube channel when complete and it will also be posted here on my website.

More progress on New sculpture

Building Blocks
I've been making progress on this sculpture and I'm pleased by the way it is continually changing and transforming into these separate interlocking blocks, each block is like a sculpture on its own but has elements that connect it to the other pieces. I enjoy this way of working and whilst it is to some extent improvised, there also has to be carefull consideration of the construction to prevent the piece from collapse. I'm just using card at this stage and the pieces are reinforced with bamboo skewers, additional weight is added to the base sections using small bags of sand.

This is one of the largest pieces I've worked on for a while and although the final dimensions are still unknown, it's likely to be at least 36" (inches) high.

New Work In Progress 
The sculpture is beginning to expand as each element is completed, this 5th section forms an important support structure for the work so has to practical and at the same time compliment the overall look of the finished work. Each section is becoming more architectural and it's good to see them evolve as they progress from the original drawings to the physical models that are being adapted as part of the creative process.
